The main goal of this course is to introduce students to the world of theater through project learning. Students will learn methods of acting, directing, playwriting, set design, costume creation, and basic stage makeup. In this course, students will also be introduced to the history of theater and its importance in society. One of our activities will be to write, produce, direct and stage a play. This course will focus on how to develop as a person with self confidence.
About Mrs. Wilson
This is my seventh year teaching at Kate Bond Middle School. Before my time at KBMS, I have also had experiences in teaching at other area Shelby County schools for seven additional years. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Non Profit Administration from the University of Memphis. I am certified in all subjects for grades 4-8. I earned my Master’s Degree in Education through Belhaven University. I began my theater journey in middle school and received a theater/dance scholarship from Lambuth College. I have worked on both professional and community theaters for over 40 years.
Throughout the year, it is important to have a strong parent-teacher relationship. If at any time you have any questions or concerns please contact me. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (901) 246-7020. Also, please check the school’s website often for parent meetings as well as important updates. If your student choses to be a part of our plays or performances, they will need to attend additional rehearsals that will be announced.
I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your student! I look forward to watching them learn, grow and have a fantastic time in our Theater class.
Sincerely, Fran Wilson
